Process
Brief
Meet to discuss and establish what your requirements are including your budget, timeframe, what your expectations are in relation to the project. If you decide to go ahead with commissioning me to create a design for you, the brief would be a document forming part of the contract between designer and client(s).
Concept Design
This could include hand sketches, room layouts, mood boards including sample materials such as fabrics, flooring and fitting finishes. The concepts would be presented to you with either one concept or a combination of elements from various concepts agreed to be taken forward to the design development stage. Alternatively, should none of the concepts be suitable, new concepts would be created, which would then be presented to you as before.
Design Development
During this stage, the chosen concept design would be developed including detailed drawings such as floor plans, sections and 3D visualisations to refine the details of the scheme. This would also include decisions about materials, colour scheme, furniture and fittings to be used in the project. This stage will include discussions with you to make sure you are happy with how the design is developing and eventually to agree the final design.
Final Design Drawings
Once the final design is agreed by you, technical drawings can be created for the design to be implemented. These would include specifications for the materials and finishes to be used.
Implementation
The relevant tradespeople carry out the work necessary to implement the design.
